Hi, I’m Dedee Boring, Founder of the Wise Network!
Like many of you, I didn’t start in Commercial Real Estate. I spent years in Children's Ministry and ran an advertising business with my husband, Shane, for over 19 years. But in 2021, everything changed. Our family realized we wanted more. The advertising game wasn’t the same, and none of us felt the passion to keep going. We wanted something bigger—something that could build generational wealth for our family. So, we started looking for new opportunities, and commercial real estate (CRE) stood out as the clear winner.
And the best part? Our four adult kids agreed to join us in this new venture. Together, we started Boring & Co., diving headfirst into CRE investing. It wasn’t easy. We LOST $200,000 in our first year. We learned, the hard way, that this business has a steep learning curve. We learned you need a strong team—people you genuinely LIKE, KNOW, and TRUST—and you need a network that will support you through the tough times.
We were fortunate to have incredible mentors, some who inspired us, and others who taught us what not to do. One of the most powerful lessons we learned was, “Your network is your NET WORTH.” So, I started networking in Austin, TX. But something stood out: there were so few women in rooms? BUT WHY?

I knew something had to change, so I started WIMFA—Women in Multifamily Austin. It began as a small networking group focused on empowering women to invest in multifamily real estate. And it took off. As chapters grew from Austin to Houston and beyond, the vision expanded too. Women wanted more—a space to explore not just multifamily but also other commercial investments like self-storage and RV parks. They wanted COMMUNITY. They wanted EDUCATION, STRATEGIES, and GROWTH. They wanted to build real partnerships. They were WISE.
And so, the Wise Network—Women Invest in Real Estate—was born. It’s a network that fills the gap—a place where women can learn, grow, and invest wisely. This isn’t about a single “guru” telling you what to do. It’s about all of us supporting each other, learning from those who’ve been there, and lifting each other up to succeed.
For me, sharing this journey with my daughter, Anna, and daughter-in-law, Rachael, and seeing other women bring their daughters to meetings—that’s my WHY. Leaving a legacy and encouraging the next generation—that’s what it’s all about.
